The Local Area

Glasgow is alive with history and culture; it is great for shopping and offers a busy nightlife. This hotel is located close to the Centre of Contemporary Arts which holds six exhibitions each year. This art gallery also offers a performance area, café and cinema.

The Centre of Contemporary Arts in Glasgow is dedicated to visual arts, music and film and is the leading contemporary gallery in Europe. This is all surrounded by a beautiful listed building which is absolutely awe-inspiring.

You can head down to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre which is located in a beautiful position on the banks of the River Clyde. The conference centre has five exhibition halls, but is more popular for hosting concerts. Both Luciano Pavarotti and Bryan Adams have performed here in the past.

The Burrell Collection is an art collection located in the Pollok Country Park. This art was acquired by a shipping magnate, Sir William Burrell and was donated to the City of Glasgow in the early 1990’s. The L shaped building displays the diverse art collection beautifully. You enter the gallery through a stone archway and are welcomed with a shop and other facilities.

The Glasgow Cathedral is not far from your hotel and is also known as the High Kirk of Glasgow. This is a beautiful architectural building and is open to visitors daily throughout winter and summer. There are guided tours available to teach you about the history of this church and you will be inspired by the magnificent stained glass windows and the high nave in the centre of the building.
