Our top picks in the local area…

For families

Try the Grona Lund (or The Green Grove) is a Stockholm based amusement and theme park. Due to its city location, it is not huge but it still makes for an action packed and fun filled family day out. Classic carousels ‘and slightly more white knuckle rides with names like Jetline, Insane and Twister all await you. In the summer months, the park also plays hosts to various gigs and concerts where a picnic in the evening sun is the ideal end to any day.

For romance

Try an archipelago cruise and dinner for two, to wow your other half with lovely views and great food.   The Stromma Kanalbolaget have been welcoming tourists on board their boats for the last 140 years so sit back, relax and let the boat take the strait as you sail serenely through the skerries and straights.  Marvel at the ever changing views and liger over a glass of wine as you take in the sights of Stockholm

For culture

For those who like thier culture from the 20th century onwards, the Moderna Museet will not disappoint.  Featuring artworks by Dali, Picasso and Matisse the museums permanent and temporary exhibitions will delight your senses.  Even the architect designed classic building is a sight to see. Facilities there include children’s workshops and a fine restaurant with views over the city.

For shopping

The somewhat bizarrely named PUB department store is a fine, old establishment based in Stockholm.  With the emphasis being placed firmly on Swedish and Scandinavian design, PUB brings together collections of clothes, household goods, accessories, sporting equipment and health and beauty items.   After all if it’s good enough for Greta Garbo, who was discovered while working in the store, its good enough for you!

For eating

Frantzén/Lindeberg is currently one of the hippest eateries in Stockholm.  This intimate restaurant located in the heart of the Old Town (Gamla Stan).  For foodies who like their food with a surprise on the side, this place will not disappoint.  Booking is essential.

For nightlife

For a night out it does not come much bigger than Sturecompagniet.  Stockholm’s largest nightclub reverberates around the achingly cool Stureplan to different beats depending which floor you are on.  There is a dizzying array of bars and dance floors each with their own atmosphere.  Best to get there before midnight though…..not because you will turn into a pumpkin, but simply because this place is so popular it can be difficult to gain admission if you are not quick enough!
